Your first visit begins with an in-depth medical and dental history review. Your blood pressure and heart rate are taken to ensure there are no surprises prior to treatment. Next we conduct a thorough examination of the head, neck, teeth and surrounding tissues which includes a cancer screening. A dental hygiene treatment plan is then developed. Once it is agreed upon by you, treatment begins.

We offer two choices of ultrasonic scaling, as well as hand scaling. Selective polishing, if needed or requested, is conducted using the familiar rubber cup and prophy paste or with an air polishing technique in which we blast the tooth surface with baking soda to remove stains and debris.

Staining of teeth can be caused by a variety of factors. Fortunately, in most cases we can bring your teeth back to their natural whiteness. We offer our clients the safety and reassurance of a professional in-office, one-hour whitening and take-home, custom fabricated tray systems. Decisions about which technique is best are based upon client preference, lifestyle, habits and sensitivity.

In essence bad breath is caused by bacteria breaking down proteins that release unpleasant odors called VSC’s which in turn facilitates the destruction of gum tissue. A thorough and proper “cleaning” plus the use of odor-neutralizing products may be all that is needed for a healthier mouth, but sometimes other factors such as medications, saliva flow, and even diet may need to be assessed.

Presently, most of the major dental insurance providers are accepting direct billing from independent dental hygienists. A simple call to your insurance provider will confirm whether you have coverage and, if not, when you can expect it. A completed claim form will be issued at the end of the appointment, which we will be more than happy to mail after all necessary signatures are received.
